The Summer Reading Challenge is an immensely popular and successful reading initiative. It is created and run by the Reading Agency, an independent charity working to inspire more people to read and to read more, and is supported by children’s publishers.

The Summer Reading Challenge is simple. Children are encouraged to read six books or more of their choice during the holidays with collectable incentives and rewards, plus a certificate for every child who completes the Challenge. 0 – 3-year-olds can also take part in a mini-Summer Reading Challenge.

As part of this year’s reading program Mischief Makers why not come along and see Fred in the Shed’s magic show, his show is fast paced and a  mixture of light-hearted fun and comedy magic fit for the whole family and best suited for 3yr olds and upwards, be warned his puppet friends supply the mischief.

Event Testimonials

“We booked ‘Fred in the Shed’ and his ‘Mischief Makers’ Magic Show to promote this year’s challenge and can highly recommend him. All the children (and their parents!) were in stitches from the start and the time flew by. Fred engaged so well with all ages from tetchy toddlers to grumpy grannies and had the audience in the palm of his hand. The show entertained young and old and constantly referenced the library and the Summer Reading Challenge. We would definitely book him again!”
